Sheesh, I am a vacuum-holic.  I have had most major models so I decided that maybe other people do this too and

 

would not mind getting my views on vacuums.

After years of experimentation I am now down to two vacuums that I use in my cleaning business.

For bare floors I use Eureka Mighty Mite.  It is light weight, has many attachments and a powerful motor.  My vacuum guy recommended having one vacuum for carpet and one for bare floors.  Turns out he was right. My only complaint about this vacuum is the hose because it gets kinked very easily.I had the hose changed out with a much better one and it was worth it. Fast, easy to clean, change out parts, picks up dirt very easily.   On the Internet prices run around $70.00 For the price its worth it.

For carpets I use a Riccar upright. It is pricey, but I purchased it anyway because of a couple important points; 1. Very lightweight.  2. Self propelled which makes a huge difference in large areas.  3. Powerful suction with setting for heavy pile carpets.

 

With a vacuum comes repairs and maintenance.  You need to find a very good shop that will take care of your vacuums for a reasonable price, be willing to take your machine for a trade in and can fully service your machine on a rapid turn around basis. Luckily I have found a place in my area that fits all of these criteria.  Take your time and find one of these places and you won’t regret it.

 

Last but not least is a boar bristle or natural bristle attachments.  This is a very important item.  Most vacuums provide  synthetic brushes. Forget those, throw them away. Completely worthless!  You have to have a natural bristle duster as these really pick up dust particles on computers, blinds, baseboards and anywhere else it is needed.  Here is what it looks like.  These can be purchased through the Internet or a local vacuum store.  Once you use it you will see how valuable these things are.
